We did something nasty when we were running a campaign for my uncle’s candidacy.  We set up mini spy cameras at his opponent’s headquarters.  The strategy was very helpful, since it helped us keep track of everything the other camp was doing.

I’m guessing that what we did was illegal.  But I guess that’s how politics works.  You go illegal every now and then.  And what’s great is that no one seems to get caught.  And maybe if they do, they manage to get out of the mess all too easily.  You can’t underestimate a big fish at work.

According to his mother, Matthew liked to modify the wording so that he would vow to perform his duty to “God and my country” rather than to “God and the Queen”. His objection is motivated by religion and appears to be a case still unexplored because most Catholics agree to vow provided that they are permitted to change the reference to God so as to meet their faith. Moreover, his family disapproves of promising allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II since Catholics are barred from the throne as said by the 1701 Act of Settlement.

I applaud and salute this boy for fearlessly standing up to keep hold of his beliefs and conviction. However, it’s just disappointing to know that because he didn’t pronounce the Promise he would be effectively ineligible to become a Cub Scout.

Recently, Obama gained sufficient delegates to secure and win the nomination. Democrats united for his candidacy, denoting Clinton that it was time to renounce. The declaration ended the five-month nominating battle between the first serious female candidate and the most feasible black competitor ever. Hillary Clinton told the House Democrats that she will express support for Obama’s candidacy.

Moreover, the former first lady surprised even her own supporters with a speech that suggested no sign that she was going to surrender. Is there an attempt or a possibility to position herself as Obama’s vice-presidential running mate?

During the day, thousands of people marched and danced in the streets of Katmandu as they anticipate the good news. Now, Nepal has entered into a new era. Its rebirth as a republic has been the dream of the whole nation. Moreover, the dethroned 61-year-old king, who was rumored to be involved in the royal family massacre which brought him to the position, was given 15 days to evacuate from the 1970’s era palace.

With the king now gone, Nepalese are celebrating a three-day public holiday. However, the next steps still remains undecided as they debate over who should be the president and what authority he should have. Let’s just hope that this great move will eventually bring improvement and sweeping transformation to this hugely impoverished country.

After six rounds of ballot casting, representative Bob Barr who was a former Republican emerged as the party’s presidential candidate against the scientist and researcher, Mary Ruwart.

The voting results were 324 and 276 in favor of former Georgia representative Bob Barr beating scientist. This was actually Ruwart’s second time in seeking the party’s nomination for presidency. The first happened in 1983, which was unsuccessful just like this year.

Supposedly, Wayne Root was the one endorsed by former Rep. Barr to be his running mate who will serve as his vice presidential nominee. Unfortunately, Root was eliminated during the casting of votes in the fifth round.

Despite of not having his friend along, Rep. Barr is willing to take the chance and run in the race. He is positive that his role in the coming election will not be a spoiler but rather a true candidate who is in the running to win.

Furthermore, former Rep. Barr is anticipating that the party will be in written on the ballots encompassing at least 48 states. He is also hoping that the party will qualify in the states of Oklahoma and West Virginia to make to make it fifty.

Apart from that, former Rep. Barr also expects to receive an invitation to be a part of the national debates since he is qualified with a poll support of fifteen percent and of more coming registered voters. Definitely, the Sunday meeting shed a beginning for former Rep. Barr.

The End

On the other hand, Sunday did not prove to be a good day for the former Alaska senator, Mike Gravel. Somehow, the election signified the end of his political career. The former senator just dropped out from the Democratic presidential race claiming that the Democratic Party is no longer representing his values. He cited the continuously raging war in Iraq as the reason for his drop out.

In spite of that, the former senator is happy to have ended his career as a politician. For him it was not such a big deal. He added that being a writer and a lecturer, he could still continue being an advocate of liberty and justice. He further said that he will be pushing the issues mentioned above until the day he dies.

Approximately 5.7 million people have lost their houses and have been evacuated to temporary shelters. Without any doubt, China has been greatly damaged that it has sent out requests around the world to provide millions of tents for the homeless. Maybe it’s about time the whole world cooperates and for awhile stops ranting about the sizzling political arena. We just hope that the aftershock would be the last one so as to prevent any more casualties and further damages.

Bush said, on his speech, that some appear to believe that we need to negotiate with terrorists and rebels. Obama’s name was not actually mentioned but he and other Democrats claimed that the comment was directed at them.

I suppose the US Political arena has been becoming dirtier as the election gradually gets nearer. Candidates using political attacks against each other shouldn’t be the center of the world’s attention. I believe there are lots of more important problems that we should be more concerned of like poverty and education.

Obama and Hillary have their own, perhaps dirty, tricks and techniques on how to win the hearts of the voters. The most essential of the differences between the speaking styles of these two Democratic candidates is that Obama’s is focused on hope, while Clinton’s is based on negativity. Moreover, Obama is gentle and calm while Hillary is restless and aggressive.

Whatever tricks they are using to portray an effective presidential candidate, what matters is, people should not allow America’s future to be at stake.
